Your 3km journey from the CBD brings you to the Whakarewarewa Redwood Forest. Follow a path covered in Redwood needles, to a setting that is serenely magical and romantic. Our wedding venue ‘Under the sails’ (a large white canvas sail suspended by the broad Redwood trees surrounding it) provides us with a space to paint whatever picture you want – with a little bit of lighting and a whole lot of creativity: drama, majesty, magic, fun.
Groups of 10 to 220 people can be seated ‘Under the sails’, otherwise there’s room for 350 at a stand-up function. Catering can be casual, food stations or fully plated. Casual or formal, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or evening cocktails – the choice is yours.
Event Impressions manage functions in The Redwoods on behalf of the Rotorua District Council. We provide all venue services, including power, lighting, heating, toilets and an onsite venue manager. We make weddings in the Redwoods very easy, packaging everything you’ll need for your ceremony or reception, or both! Of course, we custom style too.

The Redwoods offers a special reduced rate based on your wedding ceremony fitting between the below time slots, and that no food or beverage is to be served at the venue.
Each time slot incorporates time for set-up, ceremony and break-down, allowing both morning and afternoon ceremonies to take place with ease.
Should your ceremony/wedding plans not fit within these time frames, or if you require any food or beverage to be served, then the full venue hire rates apply.

‘Under the sails’ is fabulous for receptions. The chameleon of venues, the forest transforms from sunlit beauty in daylight, to husky tones at sunset, to the deep silence of night.
Your guests will travel with you from celebrating your arrival as a married couple, through the formalities, dinner and into dancing under the beautifully lit sail.
